100 Thieves announces Silenx as Nitr0’s sub for Valorant – Daily Esports

100 Thieves has officially announced Jonathan “Silenx” Huntington as the substitute for Nick “Nitr0” Cannella, who is currently on parental leave. Silenx will join the team as a temporary fill-in during the first qualifying tournament for the Valorant Champions Tour. 100 Thieves will be competing in this tournament alongside 127 other teams for a spot in the closed qualifier.

Nitr0 has been a critical part of their success since the team was formed back in October. Since then, the team has been crowned the best team in North America by winning First Strike, Valorant’s first major tournament. Valorant Champions Tour will be similar to First Strike in how teams qualify as well as compete for the prize. However, instead of multiple closed qualifiers, there will now be “Challengers,” “Masters” and “Champions.” Each of these tiers will determine which teams move on and which teams remain left in the dust.

Silenx previously played for amateur team beastcoast in the Pittsburgh Knights Before Christmas tournament. Before beastcoast, he played on several other amateur teams such as Overtime Gaming, Sakura Storm and HIA Money Crew. These teams have all had minor success, but they furthered his career in Valorant.

Silenx proves he can compete at the top with 100 Thieves

100 Thieves is a prestigious organization that has proven to be hungry to win in the completive Valorant scene. They showed this hunger when they took down TSM in the First Strike finals 3 – 1 in a best-of-five series. Since then, 100T has not shown what they are totally capable of after winning the biggest tournament in Valorant. They have been considerably absent from recent tournaments like the Nerd Street Gamers Winter Championship. However, they have more than likely been hiding strategies as they practice with their newest member.

Welcome @Silenx_x to our competitive VALORANT team!

Silenx will be filling in temporarily for @nitr0 as he takes time off to spend with his family and newborn baby. We’re excited to start off the VALORANT 2021 season with Silenx! #100T pic.twitter.com/jmrI09NT46

Silenx has been on teams that have not shown great results in minor B/C tier tournaments. If 100 Thieves is interested in someone like him, that means he’s a force to be reckoned with. His debut match with 100T is Wednesday, Jan. 27 in the qualifying tournament for Valorant Champions Tour.
