Final Fantasy creator’s project goes viral for its elaborate 3D dioramas

Mistwalker is a studio full of developers best known for their work on the Final Fantasy series, and it has since released titles like Lost Odyssey and The Last Story. In 2019, the studio garnered interest by announcing Fantasian for Apple Arcade. Now, in 2021, fans are finally getting to get a good look at the game after three years of development — and the environments are already getting players invested in the game.

Fantasian is set for a 2021 release, so players should be able to get their hands on this game relatively soon. Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi has been tweeting out previews of the game, including concept art and dioramas of environments that will appear in the final game. The studio’s official account has also given some pretty big hints about the final game by posting previews of places called Machine City, Secret Base, and the Water City of Venice.

this is a game called “FANTASIAN” by the studio Mistwalker and, in case you haven’t figured it out already, they made the entire world out of actual models.

This RPG looks like a big breath of fresh air when it comes to visuals,. The title will be available on Apple Arcade, which is Apple’s subscription service for exclusive games. It costs $4.99 a month, or $49.99 a year, to get access to the Apple Arcade library. Fantasian does not have a concrete release date as of yet, but promotional tweets have suggested the game is coming “soon.”
